The backward bending Asanas are stimulating and extroverting, because they expand the chest and encourage inhalation, they are associated with the attitude of embracing life. They are dynamic postures which require strength and energy to perform. The backward bending Asanas stretch the abdominal muscles and tone and strengthen the muscles controlling the spine, helping prevent slipped disc and other back conditions.
Bhujangasana is the relaxation pose for all exercises performed on the stomach. It opens up the shoulders and neck. Tones the abdomen. Strengthens the entire back and shoulders. Improves flexibility of the upper and middle back.
Shalabhasana – the name comes from the Sanskrit words “shalabh” which means “grasshopper”. It is back bend, or spine stretch, using the strength of the upper and middle back to lift the weight of the legs as high as possible from a starting position face down on the floor. It improves flexibility and coordination and increases strength and stamina. It helps to exercise the spine.
Dhanurasana is very effective in weight loss program. It is a basic posture of Hatha yoga. In this exercise our body pose look like the shape of the Dhanush (bow). So it is called as Dhanurasana in Sanskrit. It helps to reduce belly fat fast. It Strengthens ankles, thighs, groins, chest and abdominal organs and spinal cord.
